Geoffrey Onyeama Minister for Foreign affairs said Nigeria is currently working to meet US requirements to exit from the list of countries affected by immigration bans.
He said this on Tuesday at a joint news conference in Washington with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
The expanded ban on immigration visaproclaimed by President Donald Trump on Friday affectedI Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar and Nigeria.
“We’ve identified all those requirements and we had actually started working on all of them,” Reuters quoted him as saying.
“It was very gratifying to come here, speaking to U.S. officials and to understand more clearly the reasoning behind this.
“With regards to lost and stolen passports, we’re putting in place the architecture that will now make the information immediately available to the U.S. and all the member states, the member countries of Interpol.”
The minister also hopes that Nigeria will be removed from the list of restrictions once all criteria are met.
