FLOOD ALERT – 13 States To Expect Flood Agency Warns

Director General of the Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) Clement Nze said on Monday that 13 countries will experience more
Flood this year.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Nze said that 13 states in the country should be warned of flooding following rising water levels in the Niger and Benue rivers

Nze counts Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Nasarawa, Kogi, Edo, Anambra, Delta, River, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Taraba and Benue among countries affected by flooding.

He said Nigeria in the mode of red floods and the expected flooding in the Republic of Niger would arrive via Kebi on the Nigerian border yesterday.

According to him, this was due to the continuous increase of the Benue river due to local rainfall associated with tributaries of its tributaries.

He warned that water from six of the nine states comprising the Niger Basin Authority would flow into the country and cause severe flooding in these states.
