A Catholic priest in the Uromi diocese, Father Nikolai Oboh, was abducted by gunmen in the city of Benin.
Chancellor of Uromi diocese, Reverend Osi Odenore, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said Father Oboh was kidnapped on Valentine’s Day, but not specifically in the area where the abduction took place. He asked for prayer to free the priest.
“We are sure he is alive, and since the incident, steps have be taken to ensure that Rev Father Nicholas Oboh is release without no harm.” he added.
In a similar development, four children were abducted at Umelu community in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo state.
It was found that armed robbers robbed residents of the area and took four children with them. One of the abducted children is said to have been released after the
parents paid a sum of N2m, while the other parents had begun negotiations with the kidnappers.
